I was immediately taken with this beautiful grey gelding, Malcolm, when I accompanied Tad to see a saddle client. I discovered that I had hunted with him when he belonged to some friends a few years earlier. The horse was transformed by the saddle and was in such a relaxed happy state after the ride that I asked to use him as a model for a painting I'd had in mind of a close up of horse and saddle in our own barn at twilight. This painting has hung in our living room and I did not initially intend to put it in the Phaeton show. It seems it was meant to be as was the first to find a new home at the 0pening.
